Okay, so I just watched The Legend of Korra for the first time, and I've gotta say... the romantic relationships in the show are bullshit.
Korra being attracted to Mako? Sure, he's tall, dark, and handsome. Then he basically says, "Fuck you." In every way imaginable to her feelings and yet she still pines. I don't understand. And then suddenly he returns the feelings? There is no basis for that. I understand him respecting her, but I feel like it wasn't thought out. Honestly, I believe that it boils down to nothing more than catering to the fans who always wanted Katara and Zuko to get together.
The main reason I'm bringing this up is because of Bolin. Bolin constantly made Korra feel better, made her laugh, and gave her his all. Mako? He did nothing but ignore her until he got a girlfriend and decided that he wanted two girls. Also! The only reason Mako even talked to Korra at all is because she is the god damn avatar. Seriously? If someone likes someone else just because of a title, that's no reason to get together. Especially when you have another character head over heels for said character, before he found out anything.
And Mako, as Bolin said, "You can't have all the women!"
